First AT Section Day One

My family before our hike

On day one we woke up really early in the morning, at 2:30am. I was really tired but excited. We woke up so early in the morning that we saw a bobcat on the side of the road!

We started the hike at Ethan Pond Trail, on the AT, near Crawford Notch. When we started to hike I noticed that carrying a backpack is harder than I thought. We climbed for a while until we reached the top. There were amazing views! I felt like I was on the top off the world. My favorite trail snack was the "Boo bar" a yummy energy bar made by Banana (The trail and blog name of my sister).

The first night we planned to spend at Guyot shelter. When we got to the campsite I was starving and my feet were aching really bad. We had rice, tortillas, chicken, and soup. It was delicious! We slept in a shelter that fit 8 people but there were 16 people. I was squished! I slept next to a stranger on one side and daddy on the other. I didn't get much sleep.
