I woke up on day three and ate oatmeal for breakfast and then helped my mom and dad pack stuff up. It was a slow, easy morning, but my feet were really sore.
We started the morning with a hard hike up Garfield Mountain. Then we ran into a scary man on the trail. He was yelling and slurring his words, and it made mom and dad nervous, me too. Soon we started the long hike down, it flattened out later though. We stopped for lunch at a stream and there was this cute golden retriever and he was jumping in the water and drinking it, that dog put me in a good mood, because I was feeling really tired. After that, the trail was easier, but my feet hurt really bad and it was hard to keep going. A few hours later we made it out to the trail head of Garfield. I was so happy! Then we had to wait for our dad to come back with the car and while we waited we made a caterpillar circus!
We slept in the car the entire ride home. I cant wait until our next trip but I'm so glad I don't have to do that section again!
